So today is an excellent day to manifest. I am manifesting positive changes in my life.

I have a vision of  land, natural, beautiful, wild land that will stay wild, except for a tent,  a yurt, or a tiny straw bale house.  I envision a loving wild space where people can come and heal. I want to live simply,  learn more about medicinal plants, and spend more time doing yoga.  I need to devote even more time to energy healing  and cultivate more compassion.  I want to love more. And I want more love.

I realized long, long ago, that I will never be “normal.”  Sorry DAD!  I will never have  a conventional life, nor would I want one.  I know I am here as a healer, a teacher, and an ever growing student.

We are all connected to each other. In healing others I heal.  In healing myself, I heal others.  In healing the world, we heal all.

I recently saw a documentary called Queen of the Sun.  It was so good I saw it twice- I had to take my son, “MOM, why don’t they teach us about this in school?!?!?!?”   Please watch the film!  Some would say it is a documentary about honey bees, and it is, but it is also a huge  wake up call about the way we live, the way we treat eachother, and the way we treat our Mother Earth.  Seriously, it is time for change.  Once you start seeing the interconnection and interdependence  between all of us, you cannot ignore it. Nor would would you want to.

Guess what?  Things are really out of balance now.

Dr Seuss figured it out long ago.

Go read the Lorax.  And don’t ask me why.  Go read the Lorax and eat apple pie. :)

Seriously, if you read it and you get it, it is very powerful.

WE NEED TO CHANGE!

Look at the modern world.  Technology, internet, cell phones, i-phones, skype, texting, facebook, email, we have so many new ways to communicate, yet most of us feel lonelier and more lost than ever.

Depression, loneliness,  selfishness, can you relate?  (If you say no, I bet  your pants are on fire). Ha!

HMMMMM?  Why so lost?

Because deep down at the core of our beings, we know we are disconnected from truth.   We are  taught harmful “untruths”  from a very young age. We are taught to look out for # 1.  We are taught to believe in a system that is flawed and corrupt.  A system that generates fear and hatred, greed and poverty.   These “untruths” we learn and this system we live in create a self-centered cut-throat world, and can only contiune to create  self-centered, confused, sad, frightened, disconnected beings, unless we plant the seeds of change

Change begins Within

People NEED to spend a few minutes everyday completley shut off from the external world.  Eyes closed.  Breathing slow and deep.  Mind calm and clear.  Relaxed.   Our true selves rise into conciousness and we experience peace, love and compassion . We are lit from within.  Kindness, love, and compassion bring about a true wisdom that can heal the world.

I know I don’t have all the answers, nor do I claim to, but even a few quiet minutes a day will begin to transform your life.

“Be the Change that you want to see in the world.” -Gandhi

 MORE LOVE!

love is........

Last night was amazing.

My son had a sleepover with a group of kids, and I went on an adventure.  An adventure full of magic.  Magic and mosquitos.

I went with a group of friends to the beach in Hobe Sound.  The moon was bright and incredible, and the storms far on the horizon were electric.  Lightening of every shape and color  lit up the night sky, creating an amazing show.  The water was calm and the moon’s reflection bright on the water.  It was amazing. We played ukulele, sung some songs, did some yoga, enjoyed some fire dancing (with poi balls), and went swimming (clothing optional).  But the most incredible part was the sea turtle.  A huge leatherback sea turtle.  We quietly hung out with the turtle  while it dug it’s nest but the mosquitos were so bad that even with citronella oil we were being swarmed and eaten up.  So, out of pure necessity, we had to swim in the ocean to avoid getting bit by those darn mosquitos. And, oh how tragic, the water was only 85 degrees. Ha!  It was awesome.   Anyways, in a desperate attempt to avoid the mosquitos, while we waited for the turtle to finish digging and laying her eggs, we took turns getting out of the water and running up to the dune to check on her.  When it was my turn, I relcutantly left the safety of the water and headed up to check on the turtle.  She was finished!  I let everyone know and we all got out of the water and watched.. we watched the turtle slowly go back to the water.    An then we swam with the giant magical turtle as it went back out to sea.     It was one of those nights that was totally spontaneous, with  no expectations,  but the energy was blissful.  We all felt it.  It was a beautiful night full of love  that I will never forget.  ~tiff

There is magick is all around us all the time.  Take a good look around.

Coral vine. Bees and Butterflies love it!

I have a really awesome son.  He is 12.  He is smart, funny, talented, and very kind.  We do alot together.  And he has had a pretty adventurous life so far (blame it on his mom).  Ha!   We meditate together.  We  also spend “quiet” time in our yard, where we very slowly and quietly walk around and observe nature.

Our awesome backyard. Mother Nature does it better.

We pay close  attention to the plants, the smells, the birds, the bees, the lizards, the spiders, whatever else is hanging around. We observe their behavior and notice tiny little details.  Life is pretty amazing  when you give yourself a chance to  notice.

Dragonflies are magical

Well, today we observed a swarm of dragonflies.  They were amazing, there were hundreds of them all over the backyard.  We were so amazed at the sight of them that we did a little research.  We learned that dragonflies spend their first two years as water creatures called nymphs or naiads.  Then they transform and become amazing air creatures.  Talk about Magick!

Those tiny little specks are hundreds and hundreds of Dragonflies!

I grew up in the Northwest. In Olympia, Washington.  I never realized  how lucky I was to grow up there until I went back this summer. Talk about beautiful!  The Olympics to the west, the Cascades to the east,  and a giant beautiful bay, Puget Sound, dotted with little islands.  There are evergreen trees everywhere. Deer, hawks, and bald eagles are everywhere too.  Everywhere!

As a kid, I spent a lot of time  in the woods near my grandma’s house.  Seriously, there were acres upon acres of dense woods.  There were  hills to explore, and creeks to wade in, rocks to climb, trees to climb, forts to make, and ghost stories to tell.  I spent a large part of my childhood in those magical woods.   I spent alot of time exploring with my brother and sister, and a few friends that lived on farms nearby. But I also spent alot of time alone in the woods. I had trees that were my friends and secret places I never shared with anyone.

We were really poor when I was growing up but that didn’t stop us from having adventures.  My parents loved to camp. Our weekends were full of  camping, hiking, and spending time in the woods. We hiked all over Mt Rainier, all over the Olympics, and while we definitely spent time ”car camping”, we also went on  backpacking trips.  Backpacking trips are the best. No cars, no buildings,  no signs of the modern world. Carry everything in a backpack,  hike a few miles, eat, explore.  Hike a few more miles, eat again, explore again. Hike a little further,  set up camp, eat, explore, stare into a warm fire, and sleep under the bright stars.  All the time breathing  in the magic.

On hike to Olympic Hot Springs....stopping to share some love! AHH I love the Olympics!

Since I was very young, I would notice and connect with certain trees.  I would  talk to the trees, hug them, ask for wisdom and guidance, and I always felt a real and powerful connection.   Even now (especially now), I find trees to spend time with.  I close my eyes, breathe slow and deep, ask the tree if I may recieve healing.  I place my hands on the trunk of a tree. I feel all the sensations as my energy and the energy of the tree merge  on a deep level.  I ask the tree to heal my wounds and grant me wisdom.  I tell the tree all my worries, all my fears, all my secret desires, anything and everything that  is on my mind.  And the tree listens, and I feel better.

I love trees!

I am most relaxed and I feel my best when I am deep in nature.  There is so much beauty and wisdom in a forest.  Everything  works together in harmony and the beauty found in nature is  beyond words.  When you are open, aware, and fully present you can feel the healing energy  buzzing all around.

Living in South Florida is hard for me, there are buildings, roads, cars, and people everywhere.  But I  know there is a reason I am here.  So I try to appreciate the beauty around me. My backyard has become a wild jungle.   I  have beautiful trees and plants, birds, butterflies, and bees that love my yard.  There is a family of squirrels that hang out, a wild chicken that lives in the yard, and an occasional hawk that likes to land on my clothesline.  Although the land here is very different, and the drive out of the city is a bit further,  there are  magical forests  in Florida too.

Back in Florida making music!

Where ever you  live,  spend time in nature.  Let go of your worries and just breathe.  Practice yoga in the woods (yoga deep in the woods is like floating in paradise). Go camping.  Hug and talk to trees, talk to the animals. Connect to the wisdom of our Mother. And bee happy. ~t

My son and his two cousins, making friends with a frog

I was introduced to Reiki about 9 years ago. I was living in Hawaii studying everything both in school and out.   I had just  finished a dance class and felt a massive migraine coming on.  My good friend Radha and I walked across the University of Hawaii campus to get some food and drinks hoping it would help. But no. Ugh. All I wanted to do was close my eyes and cry.  Seriously, it was  the pounding, blinding, make you want to die kind of migraine.

My friend Radha, sat me down, offered to give me Reiki and before I even responded, she used her pointer fingers to trace symbols into her palms.  She told me to close my eyes and breathe slowly through my nose.  I did as I was instructed and felt her hands softly cover my eyes.  Within a few minutes her hands became extremely hot and I felt this amazing soft pulsing sensation moving throughout my body. With my eyes closed, I began to see spirals of colors in my mind’s eye and felt a wave of total relaxation wash over me. My body was humming. I was fully present and at total peace as I experinced the wonderful healing power of Reiki.   The migraine was miraculously gone, and I enjoyed the rest of my afternoon with my magical friend. That healing experience opened a  door for me and showed me  the path of energy healing.

A drawing I made, while thinking of my Reiki Master and friend, Dori Spondike..

Since that initial introdution I have learned so much about energy healing. I met and recieved my Reiki attunements with Dori Spondike in Hawaii, several years ago.   Dori was an amazing healer. I cannot even begin to express the gratitude I feel for Dori , her teaching, and her kindness. My attunements were very intense and very powerful. I felt and heard my crown chakra crack open. There were rainbows of light and feelings of bliss  unlike anything I had ever known.  I floated for months.

Reiki  is very powerful on many levels. I have now been a Reiki practitioner for several years. I have shared Reiki with people suffering from cancer, heartbreak, depression, body pain, broken bones, headaches, migranes, and anxiety.  Reiki  truly does soothe and heal. I give Reiki sessions often.  I give myself Reiki often too. .  Reiki is pure light and  love. ~tiff

Everyone goes through periods in life when they are drained to the point of barely functioning and can do nothing beyond breathing and staring at the wall.  This my dear friend, is when restorative yoga is of utmost importance.  I know I have avoided several nervous breakdowns by letting go and restoring through yoga.  Obviously when you are exahusted to this point, you have to restore and build up energy reserves , if you want to avoid losing your mind completley.   It has taken years of  experiencing the  ups and downs of life for me to really begin to pay attention to my body and spirit and know when I need to restore.  There are several yoga poses one can do in a restorative practice and I highly recommend taking a restorative class.   Pillows, yoga blocks, towels, and blankets are often used in a way that help one  feel nurtured and loved- which is especially crucial when you are drained. When there is no energy or time to take a class, there are some really simple and  lovely restorative poses most of us can easily do at home without props anytime we are feeling blue.

Reclining Knee to Chest Pose

Lay on your back  either on a bed or a yoga mat and simply bring your knees to your chest.  Wrap your arms around your legs and very gently rock from side to side.  Keep your head and neck relaxed.  Eyes closed.  Slow deep breathing through the nose.  AHHHH so lovely.

Legs Up the Wall Pose

Another great restortive pose is to simply rest with your  legs up the wall.  Again lay on your back on either the bed or a yoga mat, place your legs up  the wall, slide the buttocks near the wall, close your eyes and breathe through your nose. Place an eye pillow over eyes, close your eyes and breathe through your nose.  Stay in position for at least 5 mins.

Reclined bound angle pose

Still laying on your back, bring the soles of the feet together, open the knees out to the sides and feel a gentle relaxing inner thigh stretch as well as a peaceful energy moving through your whole body as you breathe slow and deep through your nose.

These three poses, called asanas in yoga, are simple, gentle, and amazingly powerful in their ability to help shift our energy  and lift our spirits.

As a yoga teacher, one of my greatest pleasures is to teach a restorative class.  It is amazing to witness the magic.  Within a few minutes of the practice, a blanket of calm seems to cover the entire room. The breathing is slow,  tension dissolves, and deep powerful healing occurs.   I feel good sharing this wisdom and being a part of something so positive.  Yoga, I love you.  ~t
